LATHAM, N.Y. (7/31/07)--Four credit union executives who have made a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state or national levels will be inducted into the New York State Credit Union League's (NYSCUL) Hall of Fame Wednesday.
The inductees are: Greg Card, Syracuse FCU; Lorraine Jordan of Erie County Employees CU, Buffao; Bill Myers of Alternatives FCU, Ithaca, and Beverly Towers, Hudson River Community CU, Corinth.
Myers founded Alternatives FCU in 1979. Alternatives is a community development credit union with $50 million in assets and more than 8,500 members. It is on the cutting edge of serving underserved markets, said the league.
During his tenure, Myers introduced the concept of the Credit Path Model for understanding members' financial situations and incorporating that insight into the organization's business planning. Under Myers' leadership, Alternatives hosted and managed a community development banking listserv and developed the Livable Wage Study for Tompkins County in 1994.
